Paul's Homemade Ice Cream

If this isn’t one of the cutest stores you have ever seen, then I have no idea what your expectations for cute are. Paul’s is trendy, aesthetically pleasing and holy moly is the ice cream delicious.

Priding themselves in fresh, local ingredients, small batches and a wholesome creation process (which is beautifully illustrated on their wall) Paul’s puts a real notch in the ice cream game. In their words, this is what ice cream is supposed to taste like.

First off, this store is beautiful. The trends Connor and I love seeing these days are modern, unique and artistic aesthetics in stores and restaurants. Paul’s fits the bill. The lovely, pale blue colours, Edison light bulbs and geometric fixtures as well as local art and prints available for you to buy!

Behind those bewitching display freezers are shelves upon shelves of giant, artful glass jars filled with ingredients like cookies, marshmallows and any other delicious treats you could think of. But, trust me when I say this, you'll be more interested in the display freezers. What lies before you is a myriad of ice cream flavours ranging from chocolate to malt to cookies and cream to birthday cake to lemon cheesecake to roasted banana to... I think you get the point, here.

Now I don't know what your favourite flavour of ice cream is (chocolate chip cookie dough & vanilla for us), but Paul's will change your view. You can get your ice cream in cones or cups, and your choice of scoops and toppings. The prices we found fairly okay, two scoops costing R45.00, around the same price for a Magnum ice cream from the garage.

We'll get to the actual taste now, but I just wanted to highlight some of the other cool things Paul offers like the health range that boasts sugar free, banting and vegan options! As you guys know, Connor and I aren't too phased by these options, but we're happy that everyone can enjoy some delicious ice cream every now and then!

If you really are feeling for that sugar induced coma, Paul's also offers ice cream cakes and take away options for majority of their flavours! We know we do!

And then if you want to bring them into the happiest day of your life or your birthday or your christening or really just that one particular Tuesday that sucked, they also have catering options, which we think is pretty awesome.

Now, onto the taste. Friends, I have said it before and I'll say it again - holy moly was it delicious. This really is how ice cream is supposed to taste. I grabbed the flavour of the month which was malted milk with biscuits and green streaks (March) and the cookies and cream while Connor heartily attacked the malted milk and peanut butter oreo.

The ice cream was super creamy and delicious. The flavours were distinct and you could really taste the roots of the flavours, the earthiness of the malt, crispy cookie and nutty peanut butter. You can definitely tell these delicious scoops of sin were made in small batches and fresh custards.

We are definitely going to make our way back to Paul's soon as he enticed us with a variety of flavours, delicious tastes and quality so immaculate it could definitely rival anything you pick up from the grocery store.

Friends, please go and try Paul's! Even if you don't like ice cream (which is completely unnatural!), we hear their coffee is just as fantastic, and is a super place to sit with friends and relax.

Stay hungry for adventure, friends.
