And back to Rosebank we go, friends. Yes, we will head to Rosebank often as some of the best restaurants and trends are here. Today we went back to The Zone @ Rosebank to help ourselves to some Maverick & Jane Gourmet Popcorn. Those yellow signs are unmistakeable, and where those signs are, the sweet, sweet smell of popcorn follows. Oh yeah.

With both sweet flavours like Cookies and Cream (my personal favourite), Milk Tart, Burfee and their Famous Caramel and savoury flavours like Howzit SA! (Spicy!), Real cheese and Salted Nebraska in their arsenal, they have you covered for all of your popcorn related needs (which is a totally normal thing, just so you know)

So, the classic flavours are all fairly well priced, sitting around R25.00 for a large cone. The gourmet flavours, however are where things can get a bit expensive, around R65.00 for a medium cone and R42.00 for a small cone. This can add up when you want to try EVERYTHING. (Trust me, you will. The bank account won’t, though). The cones however can become a bit wonky and tend to tear easily.
If you’re feeling a little fancy and want a pretty cool keepsake, you can get your popcorn in a branded jar for R15.00 extra. Around special holidays like Valentine’s and Christmas, they’ll release limited edition flavours which can come in the jar with a cute ribbon, making a tasty and darling gift (I should know, I got spoiled to one for Valentine’s last year!)

The staff was a tad lacklustre, and were just there to fill boxes and move people, and the branding and style felt like it needed some upbeat and friendly people.
The taste, how can we forget about the taste?! Who doesn’t love popcorn? (If you’re someone who doesn’t love popcorn, you’re wrong and what do you eat at the movies?)
Connor and I opted for the Cookies and Cream, Howzit SA! and the Milk Tart. The sweet flavours come coated in caramel and then get toppings of the respective flavours, where as the savoury start off as some plain-jane popcorn with your different seasonings.

The Cookies & Cream and Milk Tart were delicious and stuck true to their parent flavours. The savoury Howzit SA! however was a bit disappointing. With an ambiguous name like that, you didn’t really know what to expect. What we got was slightly stale popcorn that packed a punch, which was unfortunate. We’ll definitely try a different savoury flavour next time we go back.
Yes, if you’re looking for popcorn, you’ll find it here. Popcorn in a variety of different flavours and styles. We’d recommend you try it at least once, maybe you’ll find your new addiction!

Stay hungry for adventure, everyone.
